A high dose of inhaled steroids can sometimes cause more serious side effects but this is rare. The recommended course of treatment largely depends on weighing up the benefits of corticosteroids against the side effects. Corticosteroids are mainly used to reduce inflammation and suppress the immune system. We know that it is common to struggle with your mental health when you have cancer or care for someone with cancer.
Corticosteroids, or commonly just referred to as steroids, are a common medication used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as an induction therapy. However, they do have some serious and undesirable side effects which can occur if they are taken for a sustained period of time. If you’re planning a family, you should discuss this with your doctor, as it’s important that a mother stays healthy during pregnancy and that flare-ups are avoided.
After taking steroids
We can take blood work to see what method of testosterone is best for you and also watch your progress as your body starts to regulate hormone production. Post cycle therapy is not something we suggest you attempt on your own. Most cases of TSW have been seen in people who use mid to high potency topical steroids, for example triamcinolone 0.1 to 0.5% cream or ointment and mometasone 0.1% cream or ointment, among others. The skin condition can also be caused when topical steroids are used more frequently or for a longer duration than recommended, and most people who develop TSW use the steroids daily for more than 12 months.

- However, it can occasionally happen if they’re used at high doses and for a long time.

INDUSTRIAL STRIKE ACTION – ADVICE FOR PATIENTS
There is less chance of this happening with steroid injections or sprays. However, it can occasionally happen if they’re used at high doses and for a long time. If you have troublesome side effects, don’t stop taking your medication until your doctor says it’s safe to do so. That said, the use of topical corticosteroids has been known to cause an adverse reaction in adults and children. Topical steroid withdrawal will develop within weeks of ceasing treatment, and will (at least initially) be confined to the area that was being treated. If you develop symptoms months after ceasing treatment, or they appear elsewhere on your body, then you’re not suffering from topical corticosteroid withdrawal.

Taking high doses for a long time can slow down the normal growth of children and teenagers. Your child’s doctor will monitor their height and weight carefully for as long as they’re taking steroid medicine.
